Peter Jones - on graduating from NCAD and UMass was asked to develop a Printmaking Workshop at the DIT School of Art, Design & Printing Dublin.
He is a senior lecturer in printmaking, a practising artist, and a founder member of Interprint (an international organisation of printmakers and educators.)
Recently he became the Erasmus Academic Co-ordinator for the school.
Jones has won many national and international awards, including The Texaco Art Competition Ireland; The Krakow Print Triennial, Poland; The BP European Painting Award, Belgium; and various awards with the Arts Council of Ireland; the Dept of Foreign Affairs and the Royal Dublin Society.
He is in many important art collections including The Office of Public Works, Ireland, The Dublin City Managers Offices, The Irish State Collection, The World Bank, UNESCO and the EU Collection.
He also teaches or has taught at the MirĂ³ Centre Mallorca, Spain; Bilbao Arte, Bilbao, Spain; Caversham Centre, Kwazulu, South Africa; Michaelas Art School Cape Town, South Africa; The Scuola Internazionale di Grafica, Venice, Italy; Academie Beeldende de Kunsten, Maastricht, Netherlands; Aristotle University, Thessoloniki, Greece; RIT and UConn USA.
Jones has also been involved with many exchange projects in South Africa and the USA. He also initiated the DIT / Daler Rowney Printmaking Workshops for primary and secondary school teachers and the Primary Curriculum Unit in Ireland, Jabula CreACTive Centre, Kwazulu, South Africa and the Allen-Stevenson School, NYC, USA.
